Facebook in Blowhorn: coming soon. What exists today, and what is not ready yet.
Coming soon. Facebook is not generally available yet.
Early work for Facebook exists in the app, and it is not ready for your posts. It works in your own signed-in Chrome, never from a server. What exists today:
- You sign in by hand. Sign in to Facebook yourself in your own Chrome profile. Blowhorn never fills a sign-in form, never retries a failed sign-in and never runs without a visible browser. A sign-in wall, challenge or captcha stops Facebook for that profile and asks you to sign in.
- A dry run comes first. A dry run checks a post and shows the steps a live post would take, without touching the browser.
- Limits apply. Posts to a personal profile. A post is at most 63,206 characters. Blowhorn holds each profile to 3 posts, 20 reactions, 10 comments, 5 shares, 5 friend requests and 5 messages a day.
- The credential Blowhorn checks is
FB_PROFILE_URL, the link to your profile. It names your account; it is never a password.
Nothing has been confirmed against the real Facebook yet. Every reading Blowhorn takes there is unverified until a first hand-supervised live post confirms it, so don't rely on Facebook for real posts until this page says otherwise.
