Clear space and minimum size

Give the logo room: half the icon's height on every side. Crowding it is how roosters start fights.

The horizontal lockup inside a clear-space margin of half the icon's height on every side ½ ½ 1
1 = the icon's height. ½ of it, clear, all the way round.

Color

Lead with teal and charcoal. Yellow is the accent, kept under a tenth of any layout. Coral belongs to the rooster, and he doesn't share.

Major Blowhorn

The mascot. Drill sergeant, rooster, part of the brand whether you asked or not.

Major Blowhorn, a teal rooster in a drill sergeant's campaign hat, standing at attention

Stretch my logo and we'll have words. Several.

Major Blowhorn

  • Put him on white, light teal or cream. On bare teal he needs a cream or yellow disc behind him; on near black, his cream keyline.
  • One appearance per page, one line, in a speech bubble.
  • Keep him off security, billing and legal pages. He takes those personally.

Usage

The logo works hard. Let it work as drawn.

Do

  • Do: Full color on light grounds

  • Do: The on-dark file on dark grounds

  • Do: One color on teal and busy grounds

Don't

  • Don't: Recolor it

  • Don't: Stretch or squash it

  • Don't: Rotate it

  • Don't: Add shadows, glows or gradients

  • Don't: Set it on a busy ground

  • Don't: Put the full-color icon on teal

  • Don't: Retype the wordmark in a font

  • Don't: Rearrange the parts

And no retired marks or old names. If it isn't in the kit, it isn't the logo.

The name

Blowhorn. One word, capital B. In formal copy, Layer5 Blowhorn the first time, then Blowhorn. Never BlowHorn, never Blow Horn.

The tagline

One message out, many ears in. Set it in Bricolage Grotesque, sentence case, and let it stand on its own.
